Melissia R. Ball is a native of Cocke County, Tennessee, born to Larue and the late Carolyn (Davis) Ball. She graduated from Cocke County High School and is the only member of her family to obtain a college degree. She graduated magna cum laude from Walters State Community College and soon after became a certified paralegal through the National Association of Legal Assistants. She continued her college education by obtaining a bachelor of science and organizational management from Tusculum College (magna cum laude) and then received her doctor of jurisprudence from the Nashville School of Law in 2006. Melissia worked at home caring for her four siblings after the untimely death of her mother. She continued to work on the family farm until she reached majority. Since then, she has worked multiple jobs to fund her college education, which was obtained through evening classes. She worked as a senior paralegal and office administrator for the law office of Fred L. Myers, Jr. from 1990 until she became an attorney in 2006. Their limited liability partnership was formed in 2007.
Melissia is an adjunct faculty member at Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee, and serves on the Advisory Counsel for the Legal Studies Program. She is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Association for Justice, the American Bar Association and numerous other associations.
