A Legacy Of Service In Cocke County
The attorneys at Myers & Ball, LLP, established their practice with a primary mission in mind: to help residents in Newport and the surrounding region find relief after an injury. For decades, we have remained true to our goal. We have seen firsthand the financial toll that injuries take on victims. Many individuals in Tennessee have gone bankrupt trying to pay for adequate medical care. This is where our firm can step in and help.
Our lawyers will address all of your legal concerns so you can focus on your recovery. If your injuries resulted from another person’s negligence or carelessness, we will pursue compensation on your behalf. We are skilled at obtaining economic damages — for medical care and lost wages — as well as non-economic damages, which provide restitution for pain, emotional suffering and related considerations.
We are skilled in filing personal injury claims, workers’ compensation claims and Social Security Disability claims on behalf of our injured clients and have earned a record for maximizing the funds they receive. Many of our clients come to us through referrals from family and friends whom we represented in earlier cases. We can assist you, too.
Who We Are
Melissia R. Ball
Cocke County native Melissia (a variation on Melissa) Ball has worked in personal injury law for more than 25 years. After growing up with her four siblings on the family farm, she was the first in her family to obtain a college degree — and graduated magna cum laude from Tusculum College. In addition to her legal practice, she serves as an adjunct faculty member at Walters State Community College, where she is on the advisory council for the school’s legal studies program.
Melissia works closely with the clients she represents, taking care to understand their stories so that she can provide the most effective counsel possible. She returns calls promptly, keeps her clients informed at every step and often finds qualified medical care for injured individuals who are not able to do so on their own.
Fred L. Myers Jr.
Fred L. Myers Jr. also grew up in Cocke County, Tennessee, born to the late Fred and Dossie Myers in Union County, Tennessee. He graduated from Cocke County High School, enrolled at the University of Tennessee and obtained bachelor’s and law degrees. Upon his graduation from law school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private in the infantry. Upon completion of his active duty, he stayed in the Tennessee National Guard, received a commission and was honorably discharged eight years later as a captain of armor. At the completion of active duty, he joined his father’s firm in 1962 and remained in practice in the family law office at its current location. After his father’s demise, he, along with attorney Melissia R. Ball, continued his law practice and in 2007 formed the limited liability partnership of Myers & Ball, LLP.
In conjunction with his law practice, Fred L. Myers Jr. serves as judge for the city of Parrottsville, Tennessee.
