A Tennessee Personal Injury Law Firm That Cares
Myers & Ball: A Legacy of Service in Cocke County
The attorneys at Myers & Ball, LLP — Melissia and Fred — established their practice with a primary mission in mind: to help residents in Newport and the surrounding region find relief after being injured. For decades, we have remained true to that goal. As a result, we have seen firsthand the financial toll that injuries take on victims. We understand the emotional and physical toll that families go through dealing with the aftermath of an accident. It is not uncommon to feel like there is nowhere to turn — that there is no end in sight to the bills and the stress. Many individuals in Tennessee have even gone bankrupt trying to pay for adequate medical care. This is where our firm can step in and help.
Our lawyers will address all of your legal concerns, leaving you more time to focus on your recovery. If your injuries resulted from another person’s negligence or carelessness, we will pursue rightful compensation on your behalf. We are skilled at obtaining economic damages for medical care and lost wages — as well as non-economic damages — which provide much-needed restitution for pain, emotional suffering and other related considerations.
We are skilled in filing personal injury claims, workers’ compensation claims and Social Security Disability claims on behalf of the injured or disabled and have earned a reputation for maximizing the funds they receive. Many of our clients come to us through referrals from family and friends whom we have represented in earlier cases. We can assist you, too.
Who We Are
Cocke County native Melissia Ball has worked in personal injury law for more than 25 years. After growing up with her four siblings on the family farm, she was the first in her family to obtain a college degree, graduating magna cum laude from Tusculum College in Greenville, Tennessee. In addition to representing injured victims at her legal practice, she serves as an adjunct faculty member at Walters State Community College, where she is on the advisory council for the school’s legal studies program.
Melissia works closely with the clients she represents, taking great care to understand their stories so that she can provide the most effective legal counsel and representation possible. She always returns calls promptly, keeps her clients informed at every step and often finds qualified medical care for injured individuals who are not able to do so on their own.
Fred L. Myers Jr. is also a Cocke County native who was born to the late Fred and Dossie Myers in Union County, Tennessee. He graduated from Cocke County High School, enrolled at the University of Tennessee and obtained both his bachelor’s and law degrees. Upon graduating from law school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a private in the infantry. After serving in the Army, he stayed in the Tennessee National Guard, receiving a commission and honorably discharged eight years later. After his time with the National Guard, Fred joined his father’s law firm in 1962 and has continued to practice personal injury law until this day. In 2007, he formed the limited liability partnership of Myers & Ball, LLP with Melissia Ball. In conjunction with his law practice, Fred L. Myers Jr. serves as a judge for the city of Parrottsville, Tennessee.
